Mercedes AMG F1 W07

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

we should expect something more than RW only, Wolff was speaking about a 'package', not RW only, neither combining something new (i.e. RW) with something 'old'

A picture of Mercedes wheel rim from the inside from Amus. I must say i never thought it looks like this. Are this just grooves (i mean intentionally rough surface), or are this little holes for brake heat to heat the tires?

If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

I'm sure teams have had these rims for a few years now.

When first seen it was at a time when cooling the tyre was probably more important and they were seen as heat sinks more than heat traps.

The 'W'-Floor has been revised and features a reduced number of fins forming the barge boards as well as the floor, each has been reduced in number by one. The forward edge of the floor (behind the spikes/rake section) is now corrugated:

Looking at these tiny modifications, it feels as if they are heavily in to the zone of diminishing returns with this car. I guess they can afford to be.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

I think most of the top teams are in the realm of diminishing returns.

Is it just me, the angle or do the side pod air intakes look like they`ve had a reprofilling? It doesn`t look like it has that tuck under section and is more triangular in shape...
Love the way the spikes now integrate with the floor :)

Both Mercedes and Ferrari prepared with substantial aero upgrades, it seems.

Is it an optical illusion or is the Merc really squatting that much?

It is squatting, i think i read about the Mercs being able to run a relatively soft suspension with a lot of body roll somewhere here on the forum.

Some of it will be oscillation from being on the kerbs.
