Now where are the mandated exit's you ask? well I personally believe that they have pipe within a pipe so a 3in inner pipe with a pipe the just fits inside of it to really tidy up airflow. It is the only way to do it. keep the regs happy. other wise they run 2 dumps under the car or something. does any one have pics of it to the contrary ?
OK, that's actually a plausible guess-- they have put the wastegate pipe within the main pipe! That would be a very interesting work-around of the rules.

Second that. I was thinking the same. Wastegates alongside the main pipe under the hood and then merging into the main pipe.

That's indeed the case. From this photo of the FI we can see how they merge into the main pipe and then branch back out.

I thought that the wastegate pipe/s must exist external to the main pipe. This rule was introduced for 2016. The wastegate could be a larger diameter pipe, that fits around the main pipe however.

So the wastegate gases would exit between the outside of the inner wall and the inside of the outer wall:

EDIT:
Actually I just checked, and the rules don't permit the above arrangement or any configuration of a pipe within a pipe.

According to f1analisitecnica.com, the fact that the car is circa 5kgs heavier is not down to the long wheelbase.

1st paragraph Floor
The floor used in Barcellona tests and Australia couldn't give exact data to be studied (so work has been dampered). The one introduced in China couldn't do miracles.

2nd paragraph Weight
Mainly it's because of an oversized rear suspension, the engineers were too cautious when guessing the G forces expected for this season (on a sidenote, Merc were said/did say they expected to hit380+ km/h at Monza in 2014?).

3rd paragraph
In order to simulate a ligher rear of the car, they took off T-wing and wastegate pipes

I'll confess to being lazy here, what is the specific rule that prevents this arrangement?

5.8.1 With the exception of incidental leakage through joints (either into or out of the system), all (and only) the fluids entering the compressor inlet and the fuel injectors must exit from the engine exhaust system.

5.8.2 Engine exhaust systems must have only a single turbine tailpipe exit and either one or two wastegate tailpipe exits which must all be rearward facing and through which all exhaust gases must pass. All and only the turbine exit exhaust gases must pass through the turbine tailpipe and all and only the wastegate exhaust gases must pass through the wastegate tailpipe(s). None of the tailpipes may be contained within any of the other tailpipes.

5.8.3 The cross-sectional area of the turbine tailpipe exit at the rearmost point of the turbine tailpipe must lie between 7500mm2 and 14000mm2, and the total cross-sectional area of the wastegate tailpipe exit(s) at the rearmost point of the wastegate tailpipe(s) must lie between 1590mm2 and 2375mm2. If there are two wastegate tailpipe exits they must be equal in area.

He seems to barely adjust anything. Is this a quirk of the circuit or his preference or something else?

The pre-start procedures are quite involved it seems. The rev indication for the start is a clever way around the "driver must do it all" rules.

Is it me or is the PU in RS mode super aggressive? Watching Valtteri go through gears from the line, it seems to me that the engine can easily go over 12000rpms, and its like he is short shifting. I know that in RS mode you get all the possible power up to like 3rd or 4th corner, but i dont remember them being revved so easily over 12000 revs

it would be interesting to calculate the 0-100 and 0-200, I did it in very rough way and it seems 0-100 in 2.6 s and 0-200 in less than 5 s

Looking at the restart after the Yellow Flag, I looks to my untrained eye that Merc are seeminlgy running very aggressive engine modes for presumably the start and race restarts - which makes sense if you have the ability (within reliability and life limits), as its the best time to make up track position.

I think it was most evident to me by how close Valtteri was to Seb on the restart, he was all over the back of him! Then after the first lap, he fell back.

Could very well be wrong though!
