Scuderia Ferrari SF70H

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So it appears that they weren't satisfied with new diffuser during Hungary test :/

You can kinda see from this angle how they could potentially make this look a bit less God awful (I.e. If it's a bit more like the original Mercedes concept art).

I do hope that halo works. But, God, it is ugly!

This may be off topic - so feel free to move this elsewhere/delete etc, but I though this was cool;

With the recent update to Assetto Corsa the SF70H was included - so obviously I had to have a good look around!
According to the devs, this is based off of a Monaco spec CAD model - I don't expect every detail to be perfect but they've certainly done a better job on this than they did with the SF15-T, really a stunning model.

Took a bunch of pics without any textures to try and see the surfaces better, let me know if there is any area in particular you'd like a closer look at!

I wonder how many teams are going to go after this type of barge board and air intake sections for next years car. It clearly works very well on the car.

I don't think many will. It does not seem to fix or solve things that can't be done in another way. It's main advantage would be that in front view the intake is smaller and more air would be pushed around the side pods. The vane Mercedes has for example has the same goal, but without the complex intake package.

With or without the fancy intake, you end up directing flow down and around the sidepod to prevent lift either way.

Obviously cooling requirements massively important in Malaysia (remember how in 2015 Ferrari's louvred internal solution helped them make fewer cooling concessions relative to Mercedes) but one also wonders if these two fairly substantial changes to the packaging and cooling of the engine are also related to a new PU?

Interesting stuff; already looking like a fairly significant update package.
