Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25

The cascade bends down more in the top photo with very simple endplates, and missing main plane - is this a new photo?

Did anyone see those screws on the photos before, can't remember seeing them. Perhaps they build a version for Bahrain that they can bolt on a flap and use a normal engine cover.

Why are the wing elements flat? Dont they generally want a bit more downforce? :P

Also, I wonder on that diffuser issue... Would the other mega-diffusers be penalised too? ANd that diffuser is way smaller now

Not only is the diffuser significantly different (upper deck no longer connects to the mid wing), but the outlet over the tail light has been removed...

???

Image

Actually, there's something really strange about this shot - it looks like the whole diffuser is scooched over to the right.

I think there are minor differences.

1) The racket of the second element of the cascade is now between the 'o' and the 'n' of vodafone. It also appears that the cascade is a little bit more curved at the end.

2) there is a flat horizontal top on the end plate

3) the racket for the two main elements is now thicker and black and maybe hosts the mechanism for altering the angle of the element. like the front wing from mercedes

Yep, the rear wing is deemed legal by Charlie Whiting

Actually, the more I look at it, the more I think the diffuser may just be missing some pieces. Mid-assembly, or something.

edit: should have checked Atlas first - yep, the diffuser in that pic just wasn't complete. Probably why it was all scooted to one side.

Here she is, ready to play...

I think the one above is the one that has been declared illegal although quite why is beyond me at this stage. At a guess, the slot isn't allowed because the diffuser isn't a continuous surface anymore.

See viewtopic.php?p=150555#p150555 for the appearance of this diffuser in testing.

Edit: for spelling
The one above is the new replacement diffuser. From what I can gather, it is just the hole to access the starter motor that needed to be changed. Any other changes to the diffuser have come about because McLaren wanted to amend it. I'm guessing that the hole for the starter in the Barcelona diffuser must've revealed part of the upper deck which made the diffuser illegal.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
