Team Lotus T128 Renault

Hi

Here is my livery concept for Team Lotus 2012. Based on the Camel Lotus cars of the 1980's.

I like this very much... issues regarding the high nose however.

I don't remember the purple accents being so emphasised.

I believe, they could just stay with current livery. First of all I just love it, but as that is not very logic argument, I just wan't to remind, that green is British racing color, not Lotus only.

Here's retro photo of Caterham 7 from 1980:

The purple/dark blue accents are just a modern interpretation of the older Lotus cars. Since Tony Fernandez wanted to go black and gold but couldn't I thought they could try the yellow and blue!

My understanding was that next year Team Lotus will be known as Team Caterham AirAsia, and Lotus Renault GP will be known as Team Lotus.

It's probable but I believe that's not the problem for them, if they want to stay with green livery, because it's traditional British racing color. This special shade of green even has it's own name - British Racing Green (actually I read somewhere, Lotus is not using exactly this shade but quite similar one).

I just hope they don't go for an AirAsia colour scheme. I also hope this team name/colours thing doesn't distract them from a car that still has a long way to go.

EDIT: very long way to go.

Go to your automotive paint suppliers and see how many different shades of British racing green there are on the color charts , then check between the different paint manufacturers .
While you are at it , also check for Lotus racing green......
Traditional BRG is not a singular color, as I discovered when restoring a '67 Elan
