Button was going to be within a second of Rosberg 2 laps from the end. Thats what Button said post race on SSF1.

That works on the assumption that Nico was running as fast as possible towards the end of the race rather than just as fast as needed to maintain a comfortable lead.

He dipped the clutch late. It's kind of like, lights went out, then he went, "hang on, we're racing already?" then he dropped it.

I missed out on the start, I wasn’t entirely happy finding the revs and I lost the initial bit when the lights went off. Usually I’m pretty quick with that, but today I was one of the last ones.

He also let the revs drop too low to begin with and then got too much wheel spin as the revs picked up. All in all not his finest of starts.

How exactly do tyres get a car right? Merc made the tyres right in the sense that they finally got the tyres the correct setup.

It was that way in the first stint of the race though - Rosberg was just stretching away from Schumacher, and Button couldn't keep up with Schumacher either. When Button was slashing his lead, Rosberg's tyres were something like 15 laps older

That's coz Button was on 3 stoppers and Nico was on 2 stopper

Sure, but 1) that's not half a second 2) Button had a lot more traffic to deal with.

Hang on - withOUT pitstops? That's surely not possible - Button's laptimes HAD to be quicker to make up a 3rd pitstop - his "on track" laptimes have to be at least equal (considering that Button finished the race just about a pitstop behind Rosberg)
