Well The F10 does look the part. The F10's strength is in braking and traction, which you need a lot of in Singapore.

it doesn't have *heavy* braking zones, but it has many.

Kubica only does his job; extract the maximum from the car.

I am not trying to take away from the constant advances they've made for the season. However, with any lesser driver in the chassis, we wouldn't have seen the consistent top tens, nor any of the 3 podiums Robert has snagged. Petrov isn't a complete lubber after all!

The Ferrari floor is an interesting topic, is it truly a full upgrade, or a refinement of the changes made due to the regulations which went into effect at Monza?

And thanks for the welcome forty-two!

I'm not particularly a fan of Kubica or Renault, but I do think Kubica comes closer to extracting the maximum than some drivers out there.

Well guys...I can give you a "from the ground" weather report and (as longtime resident here in Singapore) a pretty good prediction that rain IS going to effect at least one if not more of the sessions and/or race. There's been very scattered heavy thundery showers for the last 2 days, mainly in the afternoon and talk is of it continuing like this until at least Saturday. The track (like everywhere here) will dry up within 20 minutes (depending on the amount of rain of course) but certainly a lot quicker than most other circuits. With all this the humidity is quite high so more discomfort for the drivers. Not sure how humidity would effect engines...anyone out there more learned than I that can answer?

Well the slower pace and the cooler air of rain would certainly help the engines, but I'm sure engines would be able to survive. Regarding the longevity of the engines, we've seen these V8s last through many a monsoon, so I'm sure they'll be able to handle it

It's been raining here for the past couple of days too

Don't drink and drive - no piña colada during the race.

That would make some mess if it ever fell onto a race track!
More could have been done.

Not sure Jenson would agree there.

I seem to remember in the race last year he had to switch to a very rear bias and basically coast through the corners on the last few laps. His brakes were shot. I also remember some other cars crashing for the same reason. Can't remember who. Memory is very selective these days.

I've just had an update from a friend with no interest in F1, who happens to be on an all-expenses-paid business trip to Singapore until monday ...

Here is the view from the bedroom of his hotel suite :

You might recognise the buildings from this shot :

As of yet, he's not posted up anything of technical interest other than a few blurred shots of the pit lane being constructed, but these were taken from a moving car and thus don't provide enough detail to be worth sharing.

None the less, I am bursting with jealousy ...
