Post

here's the next update guys!

added the white stripe
Image

rear suspension complete
Image

front and rear wing added
Image

Image

all of the decals printed and ready (i started cutting them out, and then i realised that i hadn't taken a picture :) )
Image

after adding the decals, a slight problem... looks like alonso knocked his front wing against the back of a red bull again... and failed the load test by the FIA...
Image

the car fully loaded with decals
Image

clear lacquer
Image

clear lacquer applied to the car... the decals seem to have faded, especially the white ones. i might stick another set on, but do you think it's worth it? (this didn't happen with my sample piece of card, for some reason)
Image

front wing is now fixed, and has a black stripe along the front edge, just like the real one
Image

that's it from me for now, thanks for watching

i'll be back soon with the final update, before the launch of the car

just the tyres to go..

take care

looks great!
i can't say much, except for a couple of questions- what program did you use to get the exact size of the decalls? did you resize each single one? and is the varnish water-based?
can't wait to see how the tires fit on the hubs!
cheers :)

For the decals i used Microsoft office word 2007. I got some google images and resized them. (right click on the picture, format picture, then click on the size tab, and enter the dimensions in centimetres. Measure roughly the space the logo will take up on your car first, with a ruler.) then print the decals out and they should be the correct size. I resized the left side decals and then made a copy of them for the right side of the car to save time.

and yes i think the lacquer is water based. I've recently re added the decals again to cover the faded ones. So the car looks a lot better now.

next update will have to wait unfortunately, as i have mock exams coming up.

maybe around 2 weeks time.

until then, take care

thanks foe watching :)

I'm glad that this great model will finally be finished.
Question about the tires- from the picture I see you have no wheel yet, i mean, it's just the tire. How are you planning to add it, will you cut out each rim arm?
And some random stuff:
1) what's the length of the car? never thought about that actually
2) you may consider adding the small infor, brembo, magnetti marelli and skp logos on the connection between the floor and the sidepods.
3) are there any front brake ducts? i don't see them at least.
small tip: when printing out logos- on a A4 sheet, there is enough space for two sets of logos. What i did was that i printed each logo twice, with a slight difference in the dimensions and picked the better one right before glueing.

cheers :D

first of all, thanks for the comment, and naming it a great car

you are correct in the fact that, yes, i have no wheels yet, just the tyres, and I'm afraid it will be staying that way, because the car is way too small to make that level of detail and make it fit properly. I am going to make it look like there is a wheel, similar to my previous car (the Ferrari f10, which was an absolute failure)

another thing other than detail and size is the time. I have very little of it nowadays, and my main objective is to get it finished as soon as possible because i have exams coming up... Again

1) the length of the car is about 31 cm and the width is about 11 cm

2) i did consider adding those logos, but again the size of the car is really tiny, and those logos would be impossible to cut and stick by using my hands (and i have no other method or equipment to do it any other way) and i have quite large hands so that doesn't help

3) yes, there are small front break ducts. They turned out shorter than i expected, and aren't that detailed, but if you look at the last picture i posted, they are in between the front wheel hub and suspension, the bit that sticks out.

thanks for the tip, i will do that on my next car

I'm not sure when I'm going to start it, but my next car should be bigger, longer and wider, and should therefore have much more detail, like proper wheels, more intricate winglets and wheelhubs, more intricate suspension and removable engine cover, front wing, headrest, steering wheel and seat, as well as all the internals, but this one only has removable wheels and steering wheel.

i am currently working on the stickers for the tyres, and the steering wheel.

be ready for the launch in the next couple of days...

take care

31 cm? well, my F14T is 19 cm long, and adding the small logos wasn't a problem. shouldn't be that tricky for you, having a car 1.63 times bigger :?

I am visually impaired, so it would be really hard to see for me anyhow. :(
i struggled with cutting out the Pirelli logos on the tyres as well
i will try to but it may delay my launch to tomorrow - i originally planned it for today after doing the last couple of touches like the wooden plank

ah well, we'll see

don't get me wrong though, i will try my best :)

take care, and thanks for the suggestions again
