Formula 1 CAD model

Post

Hi guys i'd like to sketch my own F1 car in CATIA V5, but i want some help with the rules. Where can i find a CAD model that shows the rules with boxes or a Formula 1 car model that complies with the rules. I would prefer 2014 model but i dont mind older versions.

Thanks for your help in advance

Have a look at the last 15 pages of the 2012 appendix: http://www.motorsport-total.com/f1/Erga ... t-2012.pdf

Now the front wing is narrower, the nose regulations are different and the rear wing/beam wing has changed a bit. But the other dimensions are pretty much the same.
Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

Thanks for that.

Any tips on where to start from? What's the best route to design a F1 car in CAD?

I would start with a sheet of paper and a pencil and draw some quick and rough sketches before turning to the computer.

But before you should read through the current regulations (2014 http://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/ ... 1-23_0.pdf
2015 http://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/ ... -06-29.pdf) on bodywork, the survival cell and crash structures.

Do you know what the reference plane, the front wheel center line, the cockpit entry template, the section AA, BB and CC is?
If not google or simply read through scarbs's blog http://scarbsf1.com/ where a lot of these things is explained.
