Yeah.....politcally what does he have to gain by saying they're worse?

By saying they're worse than Renault? Yes he has everything to gain by saying they are equal to Renault. This just shows how unreliable even using the team as a source is. If we are to believe Boullier and Honda then McLaren should be a lot higher up.

I would rather them spend the tokens this year to lay the foundation for next year, and resign themselves to scavenging for points, than try to bring an upgrade this year that will be incompatible with next year. If their token spend gets them .3-.5 in the process and allows them to get a head start on next year + whatever McLaren can bring chassis wise, that would be good enough for this year. If they can avoid getting lapped while preparing for next year, I'll consider that a win, because then next year they can really get their money's worth, so to speak.

While i would wish that everyone around the Team would refrain from saying things like the Headline that Article gives hope that Honda is on the right way for next Year and just how much more Time Merc had to develop the PU.

I remember whan they said that Honda had problems with this hybrid technology and the electric side. And now the problem is the combustion(traiditonal) engine? this sounds like a joke.

I hope they are right but I cant see McLaren doing a great race in a such power dependant track.

Well last Year the ERS side was the bigger Problem. Now they got this "fixed" they move to the next Problem. Business as usual i would say.

He virtualy told us Honda is only team not using pre-chamber/JET ignition now that Renault had his latest update.
Positive thing is problem is indentified and most likely next on Honda agenda.

We will bring a completely new engine to F1 next year

So I guess they´ve been working on the ERS side this season as it can be used next season too, but the ICE need a mayor modification to change combustion technology so they will have to wait till winter...

Yes, but they wont have more excuses. Net season the Honda PU must be very good. As well as the chasis which should be among the three best.

Guys, all the Honda needs is a Type-R sticker and a VTEC sticker. We all know how much horse power those are good for.

Honda will get close in due time, but Mclaren hasn't been a top team in a while.
