But as i am not aware of Tony's carrer in F1 is he that good to be a TD in a F1 team?
I don't know if he is the best suited person for the job out there... but he is within the team stuff, and I personally like the decision of letting the guys who have been there from the first day grow. This is a small young team and I like that dedicated workers get to grow together with the team.

"Antonio Cuquerella was born in Gandía, Spain 38 years ago. He did a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Universidad Politécnica of Valencia.

In 1999 he had his first role as a race engineer for Campos GP at the Open Nissan. After this he worked in various national and international motorsport categories before becoming Chief Engineer of the Toledo WTCC and Leon WTCC projects at SEAT Sport.

In 2006 he arrived in Formula 1 as a race engineer for Super Aguri F1, where he spent two years before moving to BMW Sauber F1 Team, acting in the same role with driver Robert Kubica.

Towards the end of 2009 he decided to take a risk and back Adrián Campos in a project to establish a new Spanish team in Formula 1, becoming the Chief Race Engineer for Campos Meta. Since the team’s first season, Toni has been the Chief Race and Test Engineer and has been a key figure both in the early days and this new stage of HRT and now he assumes an even more important role as the Technical Director."

KERS unlikely for HRT this year - Sala
Wednesday 04th April 2012, 08:20 by Ryan Wood

© HRT F1 Team
HRT are unlikely to run KERS in 2012, despite the car having been designed to carry the device, says team principal Luis Pérez-Sala.
The energy recovery system provides an additional 80hp for 6.67 seconds and on average, though differing from track to track, provides up to four tenths of lap time.
HRT and Marussia are the only teams on the grid not running the system, wth the former opting to concentrate on understanding its car before making any massive changes.
"We have a car we are yet to discover," Sala told he told El Confidencial.
"It [the F112] is designed to carry KERS but in the short term we will not [use it]. We don’t think we’re going to race with it this year," he added.
The Spaniard is hopeful that the in-season test in Mugello after the Bahrain GP will provide some useful insight into the car, after the team only just qualified under the 107% regulation in Malaysia.
"It's not perfect," he added. "Right now, we have assembled the car in a hurry and so the private testing at Mugello, just after Bahrain, will be very important to us.
"In China and Bahrain we will improve things in the car and the team, but it is a slow process that will last all year."

From HRT website:

When will we see the first aerodynamic update?

The first updates have arrived in China, basically on the front wing. It’s not a completely new aerodynamic package but we hope it means an improvement of half a second. For Barcelona we’re anticipating a superior update, which includes the rear end too.

So there has to be something new...

I think we should compare FP3 tomorrow to last years times in FP3

Be careful about doing that; the track's grip levels change, as does the temperature. Also, the pirellis are of a different compound.

Actually now that I think of it, its virtually worthless to try and compare with last year's times.

I think a percentage delta would be more useful. Look at the HRT laptime in Malaysia FP2 as a percentage of the P1 runner; then compare with China FP2.

Yes agreed on the above, I don't think we should compare times that's all, according to the press release the team still think there is time to be gained.

The F112 looked terrible today. Karthikeyan in particular was constantly locking up the brakes every two or thee laps. I think they have some serious break balance issues or something suspension related that makes the car difficult to drive. De la Rosa could probably tell us what it is. He looked pretty much in control but he is a very experienced driver who does not tend to over drive a car in free practise. Anyway the car isn't even basically sorted setup wise at this time. A lot of development and understanding to do.
