Just thought there maybe some performance benefit in moving from Williams to Renault.

I think the biggest performance benefit will be moving from Cosworth to Renault

Ups. I didn't take a close look to those pictures.

seriously the cosworth engine is not the best but then how is Caterham not jumping forward with that championship winning rear they have mounted to their tub?

I would not say it´s worth nothing but it will not move them clear of Caterham ,let alone catch TR .
the engine /gearbox change does only make sense when KERS is integral to the package and but then Williams seems to be on top of it these days as well?

The problem for Caterham has a name: Mike Gascoyne. He has never build a good car and never will.
Last year, with the Renault engine, Lotus (now Caterham) took a big step forward and separate from Marussia (Virgin) and HRT from the bottom of the grid. This year, Williams, without the Cosworth engine, have also take a step forward.

Maybe the Cosworth has the same power output as the Renault, but everyone knows about Renault's fuel economy. And start the race with 10 Kg less of fuel (or maybe more) is a big improvement.

From what ive heard, the Cosworth has a adequate power output to the 3 established blocks in F1. However its fuel consumption and weight are a problem now, as well as its homologation as its trumpets are causing a aero disadvantage to the rear wing.

The Williams deal was only a 2 year deal, however i think they will let Williams go as i think HRT will go Renault next year for a single year using the RS27 and associated KERS but will use the Lotus gearbox.

However i think they should stay with Cosworth and Williams for 2013 and get a good and competitive car on the grid for 2014 for the new engine formula and will give an opportunity for the team to get its systems and process into place for 2014.

Im thinking the team will make 2012 and 2013 learning years and 2014 will see he team make a proper go of things.

I heard the Cossie in terms of power and torque output is actually competitive - but the torque and engine output curves degrade far more rapidly than the other 3 power blocks

no reason to change as long as you :
are not even close to challenge for Q2
are not saving huge amounts of money doing the change of propulsion
could invest money available in performance gains in relevant areas.
your main competitor (Marussia) has the same engine and is in the sport because of the supplier!
(undoubtedly a change would destabilise them as well so that could work as a plus?)

The Cossie looses a reported 50hp per 1500km, where the Renault looses only 8hp per 500km to the figures i heard.

This could be as much as 3 tenths around a 5km track towards the end of an engines lifespan.

But it is the middle part of the lifespan that looses more power and torques than the rest,

so ....
Adding kers is more efficient than changing to Renault...as you will have a net 3tenth gain per lap with kers -but the renault will only gain gradually momentum on the cossy ...easy choice but not worth a single place in the grid or in the race..

Carbonell and Kyocera will be exposed to the same level as Panda Security and all the smaller sponsors, probably to the value of €0.2m a season. Cristalbox looks as if they are going to be a mid way sponsor, exposure of around €2.5m a season.

There will be more sponsors with a larger exposure soon i think, and more importantly hope there are more sponsors soon. But not too many to ruin that great livery that the cars have.

If the rumours are true Mahou Madrid are supposed to be the new Bigger sponsor.

Would fit in with the colours of the car plus the new design seen.

Plus Narain is supposed to be contributing with Incredible India as well soon..

Mahou, if I remember correct, is the biggest beer company in Spain since it bought San Miguel.

And it is a good beer (the mahou one, San Miguel is not very good) :D

Looks like things are going better and better for HRT. One could say that this three week break, without running, may have been the more succesful for the team if all this rumours about big sponsors became true.

Yes so true!! Those Mahou logo colors are quite similar to HRT's new livery.

this is on their website..

I wonder if they mean the HRT announcement or a new website!
