Interesting read on Ferrari's fuel flow trickery: http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1/wh ... -cheating/

The story is that Mercedes deliberately triggered a fuel flow alarm in qualifying by having a huge spike in fuel flow rates, to cause the FIA to investigate because they knew something strange was going on. Looks like it worked.

Wasn't this fuel flow testing supposed to be happening at the Chinese GP? What happened then? Will be interesting to see what happens in Monaco. More questions being asked than answered as the season progresses.

The test was only for flow rate. The new directive is about pressure.

I can´t believe this. No inspection on Ferrari PU was done in Spain, or???
No one had any interest in Ferrari car or PU last year. As soon as Ferrari starts winning people starts speculating, big budget, illegal car design, illegal PU and overusing of wind tunnel.   :x :x :x

Wonder if Vettel had anything to do with that. Rivola was team manager at STR when Vettel won in Monza, afair

do we actually know if he got fired?
maybe he had some family business to take care of, like a sick father or something like that

Maybe, it's always possible but I think there was something going on. They didn't exactly announce he'd miss one GP for personal reasons in advance or before the weekend. He didn't go to Barcelona, rumours started flying (with other staff, cook or whatever it was) and then there was some open explanation, they didn't say he'll be back in Monaco either. That's how it would be in any other job, if it was personal not explaining anything only drew attention to it.

Arrivabene has publicly criticized kimi's qualifying now. He was definitely not happy with constructors points scored in Monaco with what looked like a redbull resurgence.

The introduction of tokens in Canada would have been an issue anyhow. It'd require a 3th allocation for the updated PU components, while the current ones are only 2 races old. You can reuse those none-updated components later on, but it does give you less margin when something unexpectingly breaks down.

I think they are planning "core" updates. Certain components like the Control Electronics and Energy Store have a much bigger lifespan then others and in general are more reliable, meaning you could take more risks with those. They aren't doing that, so they are targetting any, some or all of the other 4 components.

I also feel it's about letting Mercedes do the first move. They don't intend on winning the championship, I think they are realistic about that. Rather, they want to see what Mercedes can still do with its remaining tokens.

"There is an interesting line in Gazetta dello Sport today, noting that after six races, Sebastian Vettel has scored more points for Ferrari than Fernando Alonso managed in any of his five seasons with the team.
Vettel, who has scored a win and four podiums, has 98 points which is comfortably more than Alonso managed even in his best start to a season with Ferrari. It’s also his second strongest start to a season, after his utterly dominant 2011 season with Red Bull.
Last year, the annus horribilis for Alonso’s relationship with the team, he had 61 points at this stage; 2013 he had 78; 2012 it was 76; 2011 just 69; and 2010 he had 75 points. So he was fairly consistent..."

I am very reluctant to make those sort of comparisons. Different cars, different seasons, its difficult to make a fair comparison. But we can see is that Sebastian is delivering in Ferrari from the very first moment. Yes, he has a very good car, but he is doing a great job.

I think that Alonso did a great job with cars which werent particularly good(2011/2014).
