Not sure I agree with that maybe sector 3 is Higher that average dependency on Mech grip. 120KPH is a slow corner but usually we're talking sub 100KPH corners.

I don't have the sector numbers in front of me but from memory it was a Gap of +.750 in S1 and S3 and +1.2 in S2.

By rule 2017. Mclaren will not be able to use the new MGU H and the turbo used in practice free 1.
Only the last used in each gp. @Albert Fabrega
Any ideas on this? I think he speaks for vandoorne car

Yes, Vandoorne's car. I believe they changed the rules to prevent teams fitting multiple engines at one GP to build up a supply to avoid future penalties, so even if the parts changed after P1 are serviceable they still can't use them without further grid penalties

i thought they are free to use whichever component from the pool of 4 they want - only once the 6th is in the 5th can't be used ...

this way they can't put in nr 5 in FP1, 6 in FP2, 7 for FP3 and 8 for Q and have a total pool of 8 - they can still use 1-4 but in this case only 8, scrapping 5-7

Sector 2 and 3 very bad, are basically sectors of mechanical traction.

First race where they use lower drag RW....car looks twitchy for the first time this year...Prodrumou and Co. trying to compensate for poor power.
I've seen the car by the site on the fast bend, in fact it is where least time wasters, it does not look very different in aero.

Didn't hear any strange upshifts. Has that been cured do you think?

They had said the new mapping will help with the resonance issue but hasn't completely cured it. You can still hear it during that clip but I find it isn't as noticeable on the onboard shots vs the track side shots. Seems to be more obvious in the higher gears (which from what I could tell has been that way all season).

Ben Anderson says it's better
Looks as though there has been some genuine progress with the mapping of the Honda engine. Both McLarens are driving off this corner comparatively conventionally and are no longer gear shifting in odd places. It doesn't sound perfect, but much much better.

the season going on and all the others made steps ....exept mclaren ...and honda ...with 1 second on sector with one turn and 2 big straights...its one century gap ...the hp gap its on fantastic world numbers ....there is nothing to make me to believe for lower gap of 150hp...how can honda find this on some months ?...i think the sweep to mercedes looks like 100% sure right now ...and i find it correct .....goodbye honda....

mclaren live:
I don't know which position we are – but the car felt good, good balance and the lap was… nearly perfect with what we have.
