they say it wont be a stail clone but they are trying to replicate the actual banter and ethos behind topgear rather than just the "cocking about".

They tried it a few years ago with Clarkson, Hammond and May in a taped-for-America version and it tanked hard. I don't think NBC will have a better show. In fact, I don't think they can produce anywhere near as good a show.
