The Genoa magistrate Ferdinand Baldini has ordered that the ship be released to allow it to fulfil charter obligations. .. Baldini says that Briatore has been its de facto owner since 2006 and should have paid around $5 million in VAT to bring the yacht into the EU. Briatore was also accused of evading fuel duties of nearly $1 million.

The Italian tax man should know where Mr. Briatore spend his time. He must have spend a lot of time in Italy since he became involved with his wife Elisabetta. The paparazzi were having a good time shooting them.

Italian reports including La Repubblica report that the financial police Guardia di Finanza have seized EUR 1.5m from Briatore's bank accounts in Italy and Monaco, claiming it is the proceeds of tax fraud.
