Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

I had a weak moment and instead of removing posts, I moved them to here;

and here:

Now I'm going ponder why I am not icecold enough. In the meanwhile, I take it you chaps have understood this is a Honda PU topic only?

Well I certainly appreciate you cleaning house as the off topic banter is distracting.

Oh! I see... Openly admitting it huh?

I will certainly alert Steven about your lack of commitment to the organization.

So the 2017 PU is already running on dynos, the 2016 PU started to run on dynos months later.
As Fernando would say, good news!

You do that. While you are at it, ask him where my damn coffee is staying!

F1i.com:
"Yes, our development for 2016 is complete, but of course we will continue to fine-tune the power units at every track," Hasegawa told F1i. "My satisfaction level is at 50%, and I am split because though we have made lots of progress this year, we are not yet at the level of the top level teams.

"What we have done this year will of course help next year, but at the moment, we are completely focused on the early part of 2017. What will happen within next year comes after that."
Such good news !! Roll on 2017 !!

No more upgrades this year. They are now working 100% on the 2017 PU.

I don't think we're going to hear much until around testing time. First, no one wants to give away any hints of what they're doing. Second, the people working are probably putting in sweatshop hours, and probably only get bathroom and food breaks :) . Honda has been a year behind and they along with the chassis team have to play catch up as they have no more excuses.

I'm looking forward to seeing all their hard work pay off.

Although this is off topic, I simply wanted to publicly say thank you to all of you (which have been many) for all the kind words and thoughts during the difficult time that my family went through over the past several months. It has really made a difference and I was overwhelmed at all the kind messages received from posters of a public forum.

I took a leave of absence from June until September. I am back working and plan to continue until the start of winter testing. Many of your posts have been spot on with regards to the PU. Probably more accurate than many of the journalists. =D> I am very excited about the changes coming from the 2017 and hopefully will see the fruits of HRD's labor on the track for next season.

Again, my sincerest thanks to all of you who probably don't realize how much your messages have meant to me.

Obseration on driveability: I am at the track today and notice very pronounced sputtering from the the McH's. Much more than all other teams, especially on initial acceleration afer long fast straights. Afer a second or so on acceleration, the engine seemed to clear out and run fine.
Petronas always sounded crisper than everyone else.
