1000+ hp what i believe some cars have, that is sick, and then they drive on small roads and places where you cna crash 300 metres down, that is just sick.

that is 1000 hp at the base of the mountain at seal level they would be close to double that.

It should be on every race fans list of stuff to do before I die. I have some pictures from a few years ago when I was there. I am planning on running next years event if all goes well

highly doubt that

that 1000hp is back at the dyno in the shop, not at the base of the mountain

still, 1000hp out of 2.7L aint bad, especially at only 8750rpm

although the net power is only 885ps

im pretty sure that the announcers were saying it was 1000 hp at the base and around 1400 at sea level

I'm just looking at the monsters site... and the numbers on there.

But turbo motors arent as affected by elevation as N/A motors are

not as much but they are still affected I just drove a turbo diesel across most of the western US they don't like 7000 feet at 120 degrees on second though neither do I

The Fiesta is reportedly pumping out in excess of 800hp (850+hp) and I think that's from the same engine (a 2.0 litre) that they use in their ERC (European Rally Championship) cars. Just fitted with bigger turbos etc.

Monstrous or what? 8)

There's a good report here of how the event went.

Unlimited:
1 - Monster
2 - Marcus Gronholm
3 - Mark Rennison
4 - Andres Eriksson DNF

Nobody in the unlimited class beat the 10minutes record. Weather conditions prevented it as well as a loose surface.

Rhys Millen won his class again, with a record time of 12:09.397

the aero on those beasts make them look monstrous! How much of an effect do they have on the cars behaviour? Considering the driving is more rally style, and that they're driving in thin air.

Is the road up the hill fully paved now?

I'll try to go next year with friends as it seems fun. Any accommodations anyone can recommend would be appreciated.

The road isn't fully paved, thankfully.

Here're a few photos from the website

take a tent.

I recommend going to devils play ground with the intention of spending the night on the hill it takes forever to get down from there. Like 3 hours.

also bring lots of water at 14k feet you get really dehydrated.
