Hey thanks for some ideas guys! This is a motorsport, so I figured this was a good spot for it. :wink: I only have the AutoCAD 2002 file of the car. How can i convert it to SolidWorks?

As for the sprocket, we have gone with a large one because during the race, they want us to stay under 30 mph. The way we run the race is that we will run the car up to about 30, then cut the engine and coast as long as possible. Then around 5 mph, we would restart the engine and get back up to 30 as quickly as possible. We figure that the larger sprocket gives us a shorter burn time, saving fuel. The tires are 21"d 130 psi bike racing tires that seem to perform pretty good. Thanks for the great feedback guys.

This front wing tests are a waste of time because the front wing is under the effect of the ground, not considered in the tests.

Hello :D
First I would like to thank stik for his post and any one who tell me
about my mistakes :D . Second the problem is about seting the velocity to
be zero at certain distance (about 15 cm) under the wing to get the
ground effect. actually i don't know how to get this with floworks
untill now but I'll try to find the option for it maybe it can be wall boundry
condtion I think :D :D :) :( :( :cry: :cry:

Do you have any images of the grid used in Flowworks? It seems very coarse!!. What turbulence model are you using?

To model the ground, put in a ground and set the shear stress to zero or define a motion on the surface if that is possible

To use ground effects, put the edge of the domain at ground level, and then set it to symmetry.

It's also important to model a tire when doing front wing CFD. The airflow off the endplates should be interacting with it.

Hey, I am going to use SolidWorks and Floworks to design and test an F1 car for the Jaguar F1 in Schools Challenge. If you need to get a legal copy of Solidworks and Floworks, I found them both for $150 (educational version, but it is the exact same) here http://www.journeyed.com/itemDetail.asp?T1=36835643+FS6.
Also, could somebody help me in determining the drag of my model in Floworks? Thanks.
