In some forums recently I saw every new page in threads starts with a reminder of the last post from the last page.

I find it's a good feat, because quite often the fifteenth post of a page gets totally ignored as soon as the next poster isn't responding/quoting it on the new page.
That's because I guess lots of users don't bother reading the last pages of a thread fully before posting (which becomes obvious when they repeat what as been said several times before...)

The downside is that it means that every pages are 14 posts long instead of 15, because every first post is occupied by the reminder, but maybe it could be set up in a way that it's not (i.e pages are 16 posts long, reminder included)

Do you think it's worth implementing?

I know you can scroll click but I dont have to do that on any other forum I visit. So I dont remember to do it on this one. Its really annoying when I open up a tab then close it only to have to reopen F1T

Members should have to ask ask for moderator's permission before opening a new thread, new members come in all the time opening threads without checking if there already is one covering the subject.

Besides, there are also members opening irrelevant threads.

I think it may also be down to how the moderators are technically equipped to intervene. I would give them a number of buttons which they can use to zap the unworthy postings instead of editing them. Afterwards all you find is:

• abuse of members
• provocation
• being condescending or patronizing
• excessive fanboyism
• repetitively unworthy of the debate
• agression
• nationalism
• Godwin's rule
• racism
• unpleasantness or distaste

• disregard of the quotation rules
• disregard of privacy rules
• lack of technical understanding for the issue at hand
• the author being deliberately ill mannered

If the moderators get such a shot gun they would probably make a deeper impression on the purpetrators.

Mods, should never start to delete post in a such a fashion. I loved to use a other forum, but the mods where to active there.
Many posts got edited, threads got locked and users got banned.
Some got banned just for a few days, what is very bad in my mind because they didn't got banned because they are bad its just to punish them for something.
It went so far that almost all users left the forum unless a few who bootlick the mods.
Until now I was very happy with f1 technical but I am affright the same stuff will happen here. I never noticed any major influence by the mods and that’s how it should be. The new mod mx tifosi is slightly different here because I noticed that he already closed a few threats and edited a few post. Ok there might be reasons for editing the posts but closing a threat should never happen without really good reason.

btw.the only thread (schumacher bashing thead) who really disturbed me and luckily got locked was started exactly by you WhiteBlue. So you have to work on yourself before you propose such rules. This thread conflicted with almost all of your points so you could be banned here already.

How about a quick reply box at the bottom of each page? I've use this on other forums. It is simply a box into which you can type text and then press send. It a saves having to open up the full reply form.

There is one now in the general chat forum as a matter of experiment. Any feedback is welcome obviously. ...

I like it but can you add it to the race threads as well? They would be very useful on race weekends IMO.

The race threads get a lot of traffic and the post count is very high, so the QRB would be even more useful there.

Maybe I've not explored the site enough to notice, but I'd really like a way to easily keep track of threads that I've posted in without being bombarded by emails. A 'my posts' page as you will where I can see my most recent posts and see if there have been any further posts on that thread and how many direct replies there have been. I'd like to be able to click on the title of my post to then view the forum thread from that point.

That already exists. After you log in, click on forum. In the new screen right under "forum" there is "view active topics", and right to its left, "view your posts". That one only shows threads where you have posted before. It shows threads, not posts.

I would love to see a Picture/Wallpaper section where people can post nice pictures and Wallpaper pictures of the last race. I always love some good pictures of a race!

And i bet that some people of this forum, sometimes go to a F1 race and make some HQ pictures!

So right now the forum works like this:

There are 15 replies on every page. When a page is full, a new page opens that also fills with 15 replies before opening a new one etc. etc.

The disadvantage of that is that you can't see previous replies when a new one opens again.

The solution is (and Im surprised that this forum doesnt have it because every other forum I know works like this):

There are 15 replies on every page. But when the 16th reply is posted it doesn't open a new page but it pushes the first reply back. So every time a new reply is posted you can see the previous 14 replies.
The old ones are simply pushed back.

That might be something to think about.

What about a literature section? A place to post suggested books or to ask others about books on a specific subject. It could have three subsections; Technical, History and Personalities.

Ted, for that you could easily just set up [sticky] threads in the off topic section. Is your idea strictly for F1 or whatever genre people conjure up?
