Kimi's management are embeciles, how could they agree to such an unfavorable deal for Kimi vacating the Ferrari seat... as if Ferrari had any other recourse. Kimi should have gotten his full 2010 pay from SF and be getting paid to race for McLaren on top of it.

There is no way he can "hone" his skills on the sideline, and with the bigger emphasis on tire conservation any time he misses will be to his disadvantage.

If Kimi really wanted to race he would take the McLaren deal(shrewd as it is) but we see that Kimi is really no longer into it.

Kimi and Lewis would have been a dream team. Only if he had found other means of making back that 2 mil. But since he is running away from publicity, then i guess he should really take the break, if he truly feels tired of F1.
Hope his die hard fans don't take it too badly. He clearly is no longer interested.

What is happening with KIMI now?
With the resent happenings I get really affright that there will be no seat left for him in a top team.
His only change might be at one of the Mercedes teams,
but it seems now like they are taking Hamilton+Button at McLaren
and Rosberg and Heidfeld at Brawn.

I really hope this in not going to happen.
People we really need drivers like KIMI, he is really talented and he has personality. He is like last man fighting out there.
Even more since Briatore is not there anymore.

I love Kimi as a driver, but that is not an accurate description (at least in fromnt of a camera lens).

Yea, it is right he does not seem to be alive when there is a camera close,
but how to deal with the media anyway?
Maybe some people can’t do it while still keeping their own conviction.
The press always tries to put you into some stereotypes.
While doing this they all have only one thing in mind.
Making money.
The people from the press try to sell a good story and the people from the car companies want to sell their cars.
Cars who are boring because they are not build with passion.
They are just build to fit to as much people as possible.
And for this they search drivers who make commercials for the car companies.
This drivers have to be as boring as the cars. Just to attract as much people as possible.
They don’t have to say what they think of in the public or just have some fun with their friends while drinking some alcohol.
Somebody could get disturbed by this and then is not going to buy such a car.
On the same time press is only waiting for something to happen. They are even dangerous in some way and very powerful. You know they are even able to control politics.
So what should you do in front of these people, who try to get their predecided answers?
Maybe it is better to just not answer to them to prevent trouble with them and your employee. On the same time KIMI might just be shy to strangers, but we still know that he is a very talented and driver and he is keen to enjoy his life.
The only thing he wants to do is drive races or Rallys and he does this in a very passionated way. Other than the media clean drivers who just follow each other during a race.
Now it seems like this habit costed KIMI the job at Ferrari and prevents him from getting one at Mercedes.

Kimi will take a sabbatical... sad... I wish he finds his way back to F1 and to a competitive car!

To sack someone who has won the WDC and WCC with the team in the middle of his contract still sound very unacceptable to me. And look what he's done since mid-season! I love Ferrari as a brand and an F1 team but I've got to say I don't feel very good about this, particularly when the new guy joining is Fernando Alonso.

It is strange but I just hope Felipe beat the hell out of FA next season.

We will miss you, Kimi!

For some reason, I always hated Kimi...until this season. What Kimi did with the F60 was nothing short of amazing, and the fact that he actually scored a win with it proves his abilities. Hopefully me comes back with renewed drive to win again.

If kimi was even half as good / interested at cultivating human relationships as he is quick teams might actually want him.

Kimi was the only driver that I could actually say that I rooted for. I am rather all encompassing on who I like, since there are no "bad" drivers in F1.

Now that Todt is in charge of the FIA, hopefully the WRC will see a very quick re-roll of its regulations, and we can see Kimi in a Citroen alongside Loeb.

I think that F1 has lost a true talent with Kimi out this round, but what about Kovalainen? Will 2010 see ZERO Finn's on the grid?

Kimi taking a sabattical seems very stupid to me. Why do I have a feeling that he is going to do a Mika and never return ... F1 has got many grim days ahead lads, many grim days with out Kimi.

Like I said in the Button to McLaren thread, I was convinced that Kimi was going to McLaren. I was very excited about the prospect of seeing Kimi in a McLaren again, but it seems that if he is not even capable of reaching an agreement with McLaren, then he must be playing some very strange type of contract hard-ball. I mean, signing Alonso after he became a world champion would have cost them plenty, and now Button also immediatley after becoming champion, so I find it difficult to belive McLaren were not willing to meet Kimi's number. Of course I could be wrong though.

What else could they not have been able to agree on? Corprate obligations? media obligations? some how I think that is a little far fetched. I find it particulalry disturbing that his manager said that hey had the option of McLaren, or nothing at all ... What could they possibly be doing to make dealings with Kimi so difficult?

I remember in some reports about his negotiations with Brawn or Red Bull they said that he was negotiating as if the payout from Ferrari didn't exist. Obviously I don't have propper figues with me, but lets say for arguments sake that Kimi got paid out for 50% of his remaining year at Ferrari, does that mean that he should race somewhere else at 50% of his normal rate? If the teams were trying to make deals along those lines, then I think Kimi is right to show a bit of principal and not race. In my opinion teams should have dealt with him exactly as if the Ferrari payout didn't exist. They should not treat Kimi as if they are going to get something from him at a reduced rate.

On the other hand, who knows what went on in those meetings, who knows what was said. Hopefully, one day we find out. Hopefully my fears don't materialise and Kimi doesn't do what Hakkinen did and returns after this year off.

I would definitely miss Kimi.

The classic Kimi moment was earlier this season at Malaysia when the race was delayed by rain. TV showed all the other drivers in their driving suits huddled anxiously with their engineers as they waited to see if the race would resume. Kimi? He was walking around the Ferrari garage in shorts and flip flops and eating an ice cream bar. Awesome.

i am a huge kimi fan and i will be always......but at the moment kimi is not a racing driver, he is a businessman......and i will not miss any businessman's F1 departure.
