Backmarkers, are they really a problem?

Suggested remedy for backmarkers for F1 in 2010:

Backmarkers are not a problem. They will be there and others will know that. So, they should be able to cope with the situation, particularly in Formula 1.

LMP1/2 drivers have to cope with far speed differences...can't recall them complaining.

They could permit extra practice sessions for the three or four cellar dwelling teams to use for testing. Like prequalifying. I don't see backmarkers as a problem though. That's why the regulation limit the number of cars on track.
