Mercedes AMG F1 W03

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Anything related to a specific race should go in the appropriate race thread.

After 206 pages of speculation, lets start with a clean slate for the real thing.

Speculation posts have been moved to the speculation thread. viewtopic.php?f=12&t=10767&view=unread

As noted on other car threads ...

That "bulge" in front wing pylons, is that for channelling air for the front wing f-duct?

The exhausts exit further up front, and not close to the rear suspension like the RB8.

The exhausts seem to blow on the suspension arms and beam wing from looking at this picture. The coke bottle shaped rear is better than RB8's rear and lots of floor visible means less drag. this car is a really good evolution of w02. congrats MercedesAMG =D>

i wouldnt say that the rear is better than the rb8 because the rb8 still looks tidier..

Those sidepods are tiny, especially at the inlets.

i agree they are much much better than last year's sidepods...a lot tidier and they look like a much more thought has gone into designing them...(compared to last year)

This is the best looking car of the 2012!
I like very much how they design the nose. Congratulations to MercedesAMG Team.
The sidespods are lower and the back of the car is so well shaped.

i noticed they have their sidepod cooling outlet in front of the rear suspension..like the F150 italia...unlike what RB Ferrari and McLaren are doing this year where they have the cooling outlets further back..

I hope I can keep up with this thread, because the pre-launch speculation one killed me

Let's just hope Aldo Costa's characteristic inability to heat tyres up in ultracold temps don't filter to the car - though with such a late arrival I doubt his input would have such a fundamental effect.
