So you can say that their progress in 2 years has been absolutely none. The only real thing they do the last 3 seasons, is driving in the way of faster drivers.
You can say exactly the same about Mercedes AMG... expending 5 times the money HRT has
We all know that HRT is not going to win the WCC. But, for this year, they seem to have a better approach than just do laps. They have a good driver, they have a base... it seems that they are taking the right steps, and that's why I wish them a good season and I become a fan of them.
About the car, with nearly 3 weeks until China, i hope they can start solving all the issues with the car. Pedro said he had a problem with the fuel pump. They will be able to solve those small issues with the car and do a proper GP friday, working on setup, not just doing laps to understand the car.
With the big difference that Mercedes is scoring points (until now not much, but they'll surely score enough points this year) and that it's a team that adds value to the grid.
I'm very sorry for HRT, but after 3 years they are still the same unprofessional, random team that they were when entering in 2010. I gave them credit in 2010 and was eventually quite impressed with what they 'did' that year. I thought it would be better in 2011 and things improved a tiny bit.
But failing to join the winter-testing, assembling a car in time for the first GP-practise, and barely getting within 107% in qualif this year... Nah, I've kinda had it with this team. If it were a completely new car, I'd give it some credit, but if you look at the 2012 it's, 99% the same from the 2011-car.
And the fact that they even gave Karthikeyan (imo top 5 of the worst drivers in recent years) ANOTHER season F1, due to all of his money, is beyond me.
