Back in the day, the "old man" - would insist on comparative testing.. & in race conditions.. ..no?
& wasn't the traditional Ferrari response.. "add more power" (when achievable)?
"Well, we knocked the bastard off!"

Ed Hilary on being 1st to top Mt Everest,
(& 1st to do a surface traverse across Antarctica,
in good Kiwi style - riding a Massey Ferguson farm
tractor - with a few extemporised mod's to hack the task).

6.4 MUSD for a 1957 Testarossa, I'd pay if I had the money.

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)

I'm not really fond of the old era/classic Ferrari cars although of course it's hard to draw a line. However, I started to like Ferrari with this iconic car:

If you believe the hype, this is a Ferrari 275 GTB in Paris in 1976 ....

I have seen a similar one:

From a private clloector here in Argentina. The car was even more xpensive than what you quote, it was a headache to tune her 6 carbs and had a shimmy problem (wich I was consulted for) solved by changing her deformed tyres.

Yeah.. "don't.. don't.. don't .. believe the hype" .. ..fair call..

It is cool classic early morning Paris footage, & while for sure.. features an exciting V12 sound..

In fact.. ..that's a poorly synchronised over-dub of a raspy racing machine sound track..

I like many of their cars, but my personal dream is this beauty:

1957 Ferrari 250 Testarossa Prototipo, the "mother" of every 250 Testarossa.
Looking at this car, I always wonder why today's manufacturers cannot reach this level of... art? Poetry? Call it whatever, I get simply crazy when staring at that red curvy body.

i guess everyone has a soft spot for the first Ferrari he'd seen

In my case it's this:

and a strong contender for the worst F1 Ferrari
