Toro Rosso STR10 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Guys, no livery talk in the car topics! That goes to the team thread: http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... 27#p551027. I'm making a one time exception by moving the non conforming posts to the team thread, but next time they will be removed.

So, has the large air box which is split, allowed them to carry smaller side pod air intakes? The benefits of better areo to the rear of the car and diffuser outweighing the reduced airflow to the rear wing caused by a larger air box.

Yes.
Heat sensitive paint on that spot might suggest the STR10 has low RB10 style exhaust manifolds..

For the people wondering "hey we are not allowed to talk about livery yet this guy is talking about the paint!" Well, Blackout talks how a technical aspect of said paint actually influences car performance. That's allowed!

I have to say that's a very sculpted back end of the sidepod. Toro Rosso has a history of double floors and undercuts.

Does anyone have more info about the nose, is it an interim nose? They invested in a new nose last year that sported the s-duct structure but it I can't find that on the STR10 yet.

According to James Key it's an interim nose. The new nose is expected to be shown at the third test (last winter test).

That area does appear a little scorched! Maybe something to keep and eye on.
