Red Bull RB11 Renault

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Finishing races is important, but racing is more important.

Long run pace of RB11 looks really competitive. Ricciardo was able to do several ~15 laps stints without a significant drop of time (<1 sec) over the last two days. Regarding 1 lap performance it seems we need to wait until Melbourne.

Yes, their long run pace looked very good today. They look to be the team to beat besides Mercedes.

Same yesterday. And if you look at the temperatures (air and track - 10/13 vs. 17/21), they have been very different. Seems like they already understand the car and also the tires very well at this point of season.

Regarding the flow viz pattern on the wing, you should also watch this great analysis of Matt Somerfield (31:48).

On the front wing, in the middle there is some kind of new sensor. What would it be used for? air/track temperature?
The echidna nose.

this may have been explained before...but, what is the long adjustable rod coming from low down on the side pod, to the top of the rear suspension?
