Flexi wings 2015

Post

They are at it again.

These are two frames, at low and high speed, extracted from this video, around the 2 minute mark.

How big is difference of aerodynamic load between 100 and 300 km per hour ?
Maybe flexing is within rules ?

Flexing, as measured in the tests, is definitively within the rules.
But I don't think that this flexing is measured at the end of the flaps under a large horizontal force.

it does look like it's moved down a bit from the two photos, but I don't know if it's the whole wing flexing or the one element in front of the camera that is twisting back into a flatter profile in the bottom photo

The video shows it much, much better. Around the 2 minute mark.

Yes, and around 2:10 when car hits curb it moves a lot more! It behaves like it is controlled by spring !

Looking at the video, it's what you could expect in the difference in load between 80 and 310 km/h. The real flex wings were those where the underside was almost touching the ground.

The flexing on the curb is more about the way it's constructed. They are very stiff with loads in the normal direction. I imagine you can stand on it and it wouldn't move while wou can almost tear the strips off when you pull it toward/up, simply by hand.

CHECK out whats going on in LMP1, guess this Has Just been banned

FIA in F1 used to do a CHECK only on the wing without the pylon and nose

It specifically says Toyota wing, aka WEC champions, were the others in on it too?

I did know that was a Toyota wing from WEC, but it was showing visually what I was trying to say in my first post

Sorry if I confused you, I should have taken the time myself to find a gif of a F1 wing showing the same thing

Dear FIA, if you read this, please pm me for a redesign of the Technical Regulations to avoid finger nose shapes for 2016! :-)
