I believe they have to, to counter the deficit in straight line speed. Wouldn't be amazed to see similar stuff at Red Bull.

Very intriguing slots in the endplate. One has to understand that the endplate is only allowed to have a certain thickness. Within that thickness teams are allowed whatever they want, but it's still very limited. Seeing those complex shaped louvres, I'm quite astonished how they produced that.

That could be the branches from th exhaust header? the compressor inlet is probably in front but hidden.
