Renault Sport F1 R.S.17

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Discussion about the car's hardware only. No discussion about the laptimes (should be discussed in the testing or race threads; test thread is here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=25963). No speculation or rumors towards future features of the car; no speculation about the competitive performance (car beats car B but car C, etc.). Such discussions will be removed as well.

Official Testing Thread (will be opened tomorrow) here:
http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewto ... =1&t=25963

Until then, feel free to use this Thread:

Lots of differences for the lower part (i don't know what's the name of this part in english, but in France we say "fond plat" litteraly "flat bottom" if we translate but i guess that's not how we call it in english) :

Hello all, first post here
I wanted to share a rear view comparison with the Mercedes. The picture is scaled so that 1 pixel == 2 mm.

For me the most obvious difference is the rake: I measured a rear ride height of roughly 96mm for the Renault and 58mm for the Mercedes (as pictured, it may differ from static setup).

Yes, there is diferences in set up. Renault play safe first day, detune engine and only sistem checks.

The Renault rear wing support has been deemed as illegal and they have to alter if before Melbourne. Apparently it is too far forward and does not meet the mainplane as required.
