Has anybody some additional information about ground-effect cars in F2?

here's a pic of the Panoz DP01 that was used in Champ Car's last year in 07, you can see the under tray right under the intakes, it was a seet car, to bad it only raced 1 year

I understand those are vortex generators in the entry to the tunnel. I'm not exactly sure how they work and why they are so aggressive (curve about 90 degrees to the outside!). F1 does something similar, but less aggressive though through a similar near 90 degree angle.

I think it has correlation with the huge diffuser, they want a clean air from the front so they create a massive vortex to seal the flow
