That comprison does't really apply because Max switches in-season and was basically a boy in the sport. Daniel was obviously going to stay on top of him forst time around. Daniel had no business beating a 4XWDC in his own team... But he did... Qualli after Qualli, Race after race. It was certainly legitimate speed.
I see 2014 season between Dan and Seb as 2011 season between Jenson and Lewis, it's also important to note how drivers get overconfident or just switch off after achieving their aim, Seb had won 4 titles and was not hungry in 2014, same happened with Lewis after he won the championship in 2015 and everyone thought Rosberg has suddenly found some speed out qualifying Lewis and beating him in races, but Lewis couldn't care less as he had done his job on winning the title, although a couple more
First of all Jenson was not faster than Lewis in 2011. Lewis was error prone in the races from outdriving the car. A bit like Max now in 2017. In 2014 danny was simply faster than Seb. Speed doesnt go away overnight you know.

In 2015 as you said... lewis did the job. He won! In the words of Alain "the professor" Prost: : do enough to win. No point in overextending.

There were already reports of Danny being faster than Sebastian in the young driver tests in 2013. So that rules out your theory of Sebatsian wanting to lose!! But anyway... Lets see what happens when Seb gets another top five driver in Ferrari as his teammate.

That is what Vettel was doing in 2014!! sliding around and trying to carry more speed into the corner. He was overdriving the car like he did last year.

I never said Seb wanted to lose on purpose, he had won 4 titles and the hunger just wasn't there and the car was not capable of fighting for the championship such was the dominance of the W05. Anyway we're going OT here.

Am I the only person who thinks Palmer could go to Williams. Two pay drivers next year let Massa retire would increase their budget alot which might be worth more a lap than a better driver

You are not. Joe Sawars seems to think so too. He is above 25, experienced and he has some sponsors. He may also not be that much worse than Massa who some feel should have stayed retired, beyond the fact that apparently, Brazilian investors have become a rarity...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II

Lewis overdrove but most importantly he was still faster than jense, got 3 wins and the only non red Bull pole position. Sebastain in 2014 overdrove and was slower! Danny boy bagged three wins and he got zero. Big difference there. You just have to accept that Sebastian is not a step above Daniel in raw speed. So definitely getting to see how Carloz permorms against hulk should give us a good Gauge on Perez, Max, Ocon against Vettel. This is the biggest driver comparison "keystone" we have seen on a while.

Yeah if such comparisons weren't completely rubbish and worthless, that would be interesting. But it is not.

So a driver who is just not comfortable driving his car and has difficulty finding the balance he wants is ignored, great!!
Lewis was happy with the balance of his car yet Button was right there with him, I never saw Lewis sliding around complaining about the balance like Sebastian did in 2014.
Believe it or not Daniel is overrated and even if he goes to Ferrari in the future we all would say Sebastian is a number 1 driver so Dan is at a disadvantage and in a equal car would beat Seb, same way Seb was a number 1 driver in red bull with Webber.

Other point is driver performance is never fixed, they keep on improving and evolving, Lewis was known for late braking but a video by GPR-A showed how he was braking earlier than Rosberg, so driver performance never stays the same as they keep on improving.

Was mentioned on sky F1 live coverage of P1 that Toro rosso honda deal includes Honda taking a 40% stake in them. If redbull do go to another provider like Aston Martin or Porsche the logical step would be for Toro rosso to be a works honda by the time the new engines come in

That is Sauber Alfa Romeo and Ferrari wants to put at least one of their protege's Leclerc or Giovinazzi there. So maybe Erickson or Wherlein is not returning in 2018

Also is Torro Rosso retaining Kvyat and why?

Pierre Gasly is the only suitable and successful enough Red Bull driver in the "junior" categories. Red Bull doesn't have another junior driver for next year: http://juniorteam.redbull.com/drivers
Niko Kari won't have enough points for a super licence.
So if they don't want buy another driver, they kinda have to retain Kvyat for another year or two.
