smoke in wind tunnel

Sorry I am also making one of these can you answer my question threats here.

I am wondering how the smoke in a wind tunnel is generated.
I need to know it because I have to visualise the air flow in a machine.

I need something to make the movement of the air visible like smoke or maybe some kind of colour.
In the machine is also a water jet and I wonder If the smoke will mix with the water.
This would be bad because I need a clear contrast between the water and air movement.
