McLaren MP4-31 Honda

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

How can you say that looks like a thermal camera? What does a thermal camera look like? And why would you point it to the gap between the floor and the tire? #-o

Totally different concept and serve a different purpose.

For those interested in fat and not fat asses: I've made a comparisson here: asses

What strikes me most is the resemblance to RB. Quite big but also quite high from the floor. RB is also a car with a big undercut.

AMuS:
A direct comparison with the previous year's model shows minor modifications to the mirror mounts and the rear wing endplate.

Sir Mix A Lot would deffinitelly approve all this exhuberance at the bottom. I also noticed the similarities between Newey and Promodous's asses. They seem to prioritize undercut and flow directly over the diffuser.

I'm quite sure it has nothing to do with Heat because strikingly that "Thing" covers the IR Tire Temp Sensor. :D So i think it's a high Speed Camera to monitor exactly how the Tire deforms.

Oh, and for anybody on the search for a new Wallpaper....

Completely OT but I wish they'd put a red swoosh back on the nose...or some red up front at least.

Back OT, did they run the new front wing today? Any photos?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Love it how they've applied three different colours of flow-viz at once. :D

Actually that flow-viz job makes a wonderful livery!

Is the flow pattern on the upper front wishbone ok?

I wondered the same. It looks detached to me. Granted I'm no expert.

Is it me or they are testing a new front suspension set up in that picture?
