Formula One glossary
- Qualifying
- Practice session that mostly takes place between 14:00 and 15:00 on the Saturday before a Formula One race that determines the starting order of the race. Along the years, there have been different regulations for qualifying. Most most used was a system that granted each driver 12 laps in which he could set a time. More recently, single lap qualification was used and currently there is a knock-out system in place that consists of three separate sessions.
