Extremely important to have a good basic set-up - Kubica

Shortly before the qualifying for the European Grand Prix, the tension is rising among members of the BMW Sauber F1 Team: how to improve lap times around the "Valencia Street Circuit" as quickly as possible? Robert Kubica explains his strategy for the new circuit.

"It is extremely important to have a good basic set-up, which allows you to drive easily," says Robert. "You have to improve the lap time gradually. Adopting a kamikaze style will get you nowhere. The same applies to finding the ideal racing line. It is very helpful to walk around the circuit beforehand, in order to get a feel for the track surface and the layout."

Robert had an opportunity to gain an initial impression of the layout of the 5.440 kilometre "Valencia Street Circuit" back at the beginning of the year. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver drove a BMW M3 around the circuit, which at that time was not complete, for a film with Official Corporate Partner Intel. "That was great fun," said Robert afterwards.
