Ferrari is treated with kid gloves - Jackie Stewart

Former F1 World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, has hit out at the race stewards for the penalty they have given Felipe Massa after the pitlane incident during the European Grand Prix this weekend. Stewart praises the performance of the Ferrari driver, but said that Massa made a basic error in the pitlane.

The race stewards delayed imposing a penalty on Felipe Massa after the unsafe release by his Ferrari pit crew into the path of Adrian Sutil in his VJM-01.

After the race, the stewards gave Felipe Massa a €10.000 fine, but the Brazilian could keep his victory.

Jackie Stewart declared to 'Motorsport Aktuell': "For me it was the key moment of the race. I don't know if it was the team or the driver who made the error. But, first of all, I can not understand why the stewards made their decision only after the race.

"They have all the information that is needed to make a judgement during the grand prix."

Stewart also declared that "in the eyes of many the verdict underlines once again that in such cases Ferrari is treated with kid gloves."
