Nelson Piquet Jr., who will drive his first home Grand Prix, admitted that he is worried to lose his Renault seat as the team is under pressure to sign a French driver in 2009. After a difficult season for Piquet, the media already speculated about two possible replacers for the Brazilian: Lucas di Grassi and Romain Grosjean.

Nelson Piquet Jr. said to news agency 'Reuters': "I think Renault are in need. It's been a few years since they had a French driver."
