ING Renault F1 Team driver Fernando Alonso spent a day training with the winner of the 2008 Tour de France, Spaniard Carlos Sastre. On Tuesday, the Cervelo team and Fernando Alonso had a four-hour training session in Portugal, close to the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.

Carlos Sastre said on his website: "It has been a really enjoyable meeting. We made the most of the time to get to know each other a little more and spent four intense hours together.

"My teammates were really happy to meet Alonso face-to-face and Fernando was delighted to spend a training day with them. In all truth, I was surprised by his level of fitness and how strong he is on the bike."

On his turn, Sastre was invited to discover the world of F1 as he would attend a day of testing at the Portimao circuit.
