Damaged cable to blame for qualification timing problems

It has been revealed that a damaged cable was to blame for the mishap at the end of Saturdays qualification, where the timing was not availabe, thus no one knew what the final results where. Although Formula One has now issued a formal statement explaining what exactly went wrong.

The official statement released today said, "The finish line sensor suffered a mechanical failure in the form of a damaged cable. Standard procedures were followed and the back-up sensor used. Once the verification procedures were complete the full results were published. At no time was any timing data lost."
