Analysis: Toro Rosso introduce STR5

By on

Scuderia Toro Rosso was the second team this morning at Valencia to show its new car to the public, 20 minutes after Mercedes took the wraps off of its new contender. The new Toro Rosso is the first car built and designed at Faenza.

With only a small technical team, that is still not complete yet, only minor changed to the STR4 were to be expected, and so it turned out.

The rear end of the car and the sidepods remained largely the same. The diffuser of the car is also still the same, using the same version as on Red Bull's RB5 at the end of 2009.

The most obvious change is the new nose. It is now sharper looking than before, and in addition to extra red paint makes this a very nice car. The team is likely to introduce more updates as the testing goes on, walking the path of evolution, rather than a complete change of concept.
