Carlos Sainz has been found fit to race this morning in Sochi, and will as such compete in this afternoon's Russian Grand Prix, his team has confirmed in a statement.

"Following this morning’s FIA note to the Media in which Carlos Sainz was declared fit to race, Scuderia Toro Rosso is happy to confirm that Carlos will take part in today’s 2015 Russian Grand Prix here in Sochi."

Sainz had been brought to Sochi Hospital 4 following a crash during qualifying on Saturday. While examination showed no sign of injury, the Spaniard remained at the hospital overnight as is usual.

This morning, when reporting back to the medical centre near the track, the FIA has given him permission to race.
