Ferrari ahead in FP3 as Rosberg suffers suspension failure

While Ferrari were on the pace immediately, Mercedes seemed to struggle on the ultrasofts. When Nico Rosberg crashed out at turn 2, due to the suspension failing on the yellow kerbs, they were ranked 19th and 20th.

It was only really when Rosberg's car was recovered, and the session continued with just 12 minutes left that Hamilton put in a competitive time. He first moved up to 4th, and a further improvement on the next lap made him third fastest, little more than 2 tenths down on the pace-setting Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel.
