Raikkonen fastest on second day of Silverstone test

On the second and final day of this week's in-season F1 test, Kimi Raikkonen was set the fastest time around Silverstone Circuit. Mercedes young driver Esteban Ocon was second fastest while Pierre Gasly put Red Bull in contention as well.

The 20-year-old Red Bull Junior spent the morning session carrying out aerodynamic work on medium compound tyres. After a period of rain in the afternoon Pierre undertook further evaluation work of test parts before rising to P3 late in the session with a lap of 1:31.429 set on soft compound tyres.

Niki Mazepin enjoyed his second day of testing at Force India, while Stoffel Vandoorne took over the McLaren MP4-28 from Alonso to complete 114 laps.

At Williams, Bottas took over from Lynn, focusing mainly on mechanical set-up work. The team fitted its car with a new front suspension and an alternative rear suspension, before spending the afternoon looking at mechanical set-up work but predominantly aero testing on the soft tyres.

Toro Rosso meanwhile gave Brazilian young driver Sérgio Sette Câmara his first outing at the wheel of a Formula One car. The team said Câmara spent the morning session to get himself acquinted with the procedures and the steering wheel before he settled in to representative lap times, towards the end of the morning, The afternoon's running for Toro Rosso was hampered by an electrical issue, denying the youngster to set laps on the softer tyre compounds.

Pascal Wehrlein was again busy testing for Pirelli. Just like on Tuesday, he was running in a 2014-spec Mercedes, albeit enjoying a much more productive day than yesterday.
