Vettel completes seat-fitting at Aston Martin

Four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel completed his seat-fitting at Silverstone where his new team, the Aston Martin Cognizant Team is located.

The German driver failed to reach an agreement with Ferrari on a possible contract extension last Spring with the Scuderia deciding to sign Carlos Sainz for 2021. On 10 September, the 33-year-old announced that he would join the Racing Point outfit that would be rebranded as Aston Martin F1 Team for the forthcoming season.

Vettel will partner team regular Lance Stroll, replacing Sergio Perez as Aston Martin makes its return to Formula One this year. The iconic brand first participated in Formula One between 1959 and 1960, but it failed to score any points. Following this disastrous spell, Aston Martin abandoned Formula One entirely after the British Grand Prix to focus on sports car racing.

Between 2016 and 2020 Aston Martin served as a sponsor for Red Bull Racing, and the brand is now set to make its long-awaited return to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Vettel has now completed his first work day at the Aston Martin F1 Team’s headquarters at Silverstone. After arriving in an Aston Martin DBX, the German performed a seat fit in the Silverstone-based team’s 2021 machinery, which will be unveiled at a launch event in March.
