Alonso to leave McLaren?

What should have be a dream marriage may already end in a divorce after one year. According to the German newspaper 'Bild', the lawyers of double World Champion Fernando Alonso are examining if and how the Spaniard can get out of the contract that binds him with McLaren until the end of 2008, plus an option on another season.

This weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, Mercedes Motorsport Boss Norbert Haug, declared: "If a driver does not want to stay, we must sit together and talk about it. But in the middle of the World Championship fight, that is perhaps the wrong moment."

The relationship between Fernando Alonso and Team Boss Ron Dennis is as cold as ice at the moment and the espionage case didn't do any good. A lot of people within the team condemn Alonso for providing the FIA with evidence in the espionage case and this as it wasn't Alonso who was in contact with Coughlan but Pedro de la Rosa. If Alonso and de la Rosa wouldn't have provided the FIA with the evidence, both drivers might have lost their Super license and with that their vocation. So who can really blame them?

After all the drama that has been going on at McLaren this season, once again it's been whispered that Fernando wants to leave the Woking-based team as soon as possible, hopefully after snatching his third consecutive title.
