Kubica continues testing programme

Two factors meant an early end to testing on day two at Silverstone for Robert Kubica and the BMW Sauber F1 Team, but problems with the car was not one of them. The typical British weather meant strong winds and drizzle, which came at precisely 10.56, curtailed the team’s plans for aero testing.

Meanwhile the testing restrictions, that limit each team to 30,000 kilometres and 300 sets of tyres a year, meant that over an hour before the session was due to finish at 17.00 the team was debriefing. The scheduled programme had been completed and the engineers were making preparations for day three. Part of this test was also with the Bridgestone tyres for the British Grand Prix, and this was completed successfully.

What comes next: Nick Heidfeld flies in tonight to take over driving duties for day three. The team is now hoping the weather will be kinder to Nick, as the plans are for mechanical and aero testing as well as work on the tyres for the race next week.
