A good mixture of challenges - Kubica

By on

Last year, Robert Kubica finished fourth at his first ever British Grand Prix. The BMW Sauber F1 Team driver speaks about the perils that await the teams and drivers at the 5.141 kilometre "Silverstone Circuit".

"Silverstone has a great history and is a very nice track," says Kubica. "It is very important to have good downforce here, especially in the high-speed first sector. Later on in the lap, the track has some low-speed corners. From a driver's perspective, the circuit is a good mix that makes a lot of different demands."

Alongside the challenging circuit, another factor plays an important role at Silverstone: the somewhat unpredictable weather conditions. Above all, the gusty wind that whistles over the track can make a driver's life very difficult during the race.

"Wind conditions are always a big factor, and they can have quite an effect on the car in the first sector," says Robert. "Furthermore, the British weather is always unpredictable, but I have been to races at Silverstone three or four times and never had rain. So let's wait and see what happens in 2008."
