The thing is the longer you run the harder it is to reproduce what you did, than if you run three or four laps. It's all about manipulating variables, if you keep the runs short it becomes easy to conduct studies because there are less changes to account for, such as degrading tires and changing fuel load, not to mention track conditions can change. Even at change of 3 degrees track temperature can throw off your measurements.

Does someone know the compound he was on and if the DRD was used?

**he was on hard tyres, according to autosport livefeed.

yes but that is it, no pace in that 15 lap run, doing 1:29 is slower then marrusia, where is the pace? those tires are for crap. from my point of view mercedes just lost one set of tires and didnt gain nothing.

The fastest lap was the first lap of the 15-lap stint. After that, times settled around the 1:27-1:29.900. I think Mercedes is not looking too bad.

The times are nowhere near the Red Bull, but the Red Bull has not done any long stints today. Alonso has done a couple of long stints and his times are generally in the 1:27-1:28 region.

The fact that the fastest lap of that 15-lap stint was done on the first lap when the car is at its heaviest and the tyres at its freshest gives me some optimism.
