Ferrari P4/5 in Video

Post

I can't decide if I like it or not. Don't like the exhaust, not so sure about the side intakes either. Better give me an Enzo instead.

The video that taught me to left foot brake (do not try this anywhere except a really open space, in fact best not to try at all really)

Tom,

your last post only confirmed that rally fans are comletely insane! I wonder how many of them get scraped off the front of cars at a venue!

Great driving skill, but how the hell the driver concentrates on the road when there are people right in front of the car until the last second is quite beyond me.

Almost Dakar time

Post

Since a new Lisboa-Dakar is almost there, here is a very nice film about the win of the Marreau brothers in the 1982 edition. Lots of action sequences, very entretaining, but that seem a little "fake" (too many cameras involved, it seems that some "additional" filming was made -or a remarkable editing work...-)

Look the "lemans-models" site for other nice videos, under "Special: Films", such as this lap of Le Mans on-board of a Porsche 962, driven by Derek Bell. I feel insane the amount oversteering on the low-speed turns with such low downforce and the locked differential. Imagine enduring it 24 hours round without spinning!

Also there, a lap of the old Nürburgring (The Mother!) in a Porsche 956C, commented by Derek Bell. Not to be missed!

Yup, its one of my favourite youtube vids. Don't get me wrong, its not like a favourite movie where you want to watch it over and over again for entertainment value. Its one of my favourites, because it remembers such a tragic day in our sport, in a tasteful manner.

Its all well and good posting vids on youtube of that long 5min or so clip from the heli camera of senna's broken car with paramedics lingering over him..but...why? what good does it do, we've all seen it, its frightfully emotional. Whereas this video is more like somebody's personal tribute, you know - their little bit - to remember those who lost thier lives on that tragic day.

I know posting actual footage clips can educate those who were not fans at the time / not old enough to remember. Hell my gf never used to be an F1 fan, and as much as the video moved her (she nearly cried) she found that it traught her a lot about the sport. There is another video search for "F1 Preshished Heros". Its VERY graphic in places, and VERY emotional. It had my gf in floods of tears, BUT, it a good reminder ofhow these guys risk their lives for the sport they love, and to quote my gf "Its horriffic, but it is also a beautiful tribute."

I find these personal tribute video's sometime beautifully made, wonderfully poinient, and also very very moving. A really fitting tribute. THAT is why I like it so much.

Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

Surprise surprise that was Oulton Park, just coming over the crest on the way to knickerbrook (hehe) the back end went light and they could do nothing.

In the summer we saw at least 10 Formula Renaults slide off the road, all escaping damage, at the other end of that circuit when someone dropped oil all over it.
